Since today was a bit of a breather from direct ministry, I thought I'd post some more pictures from yesterday and Sunday.

Today, we spent the morning visiting the Apartheid Museum (click for link). What a powerful experience. Most of us have no idea what South Africa has been through since their decision to officially segregate the nation in 1948. This horrific policy lasted all the way until the early 1990's. What struck the team most was that just as the United States was moving away from segregation and toward Civil Rights in the 50's and 60's, South Africa was heading into the very same darkness we were trying to leave behind. Why didn't we as a nation take a stronger stand against this? Where was the Church in working to abolish this evil?

Tonight at our debriefing around the fire, we discussed what we experienced and asked ourselves, what issues is the Church blind to today? Why don't we speak up louder against the evils we see around us?

This afternoon, we spent a few hours in Gold Reef City, a theme park next door to the museum. The kids had fun on the rides, and even got Katie (whom we nicknamed the "bag lady" since she volunteered to watch the bags as the kids went on the roller coasters) to face her fear of heights and go on the ferris wheel! On the way home, we finally allowed the team to satisfy their craving for home with a stop at McDonald's.

Tonight we finalize plans for Battle Zone camp. We head out tomorrow. Please pray for us that we can be an encouragement to the teens whom we will serve over the next two days of roughing it.

God continues to work, and we are praising Him for His amazing love and faithfulness to us.

We are praying for those you are ministering to, in the Battle Zone, "That they may know You, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" John 17:3.

Intently waiting to hear about your Battle Zone challenges and inspirations, may the Lord be with you every moment of the day. Love, Mom, Dad and Alex
