Good Friday

Before we share what God did here today, we'd like to remind you of what He did on this day, two thousand years ago. To do that, read carefully the words of the songwriter Phillip Bliss, shared with us this morning:

Man of Sorrows! what a name
For the Son of God, who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
In my place condemned He stood;
Sealed my pardon with His blood.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Guilty, vile, and helpless we;
Spotless Lamb of God was He;
“Full atonement!” can it be?
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Lifted up was He to die;
“It is finished!” was His cry;
Now in Heav’n exalted high.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

When He comes, our glorious King,
All His ransomed home to bring,
Then anew His song we’ll sing:
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

God is so good. We deserve death and hell, but He gave us life and heaven. What a Savior!

Today, we woke to a cool, Good Friday morning, still acclimating to SA time. Finally, in the daylight, we were able to see the full view of the property we didn't really get to appreciate last night in the dark. The camp property is situated high along
a ridge that overlooks a beautiful view of west Jo-burg (see pictures). Breakfast was delicious and we even get to wash our own dishes after the meal (Parents, contrary to what your teen may tell you, they CAN do dishes and they do them quite well).

Then, we were off to worship at Sandton Bible Church (click here to check out their site) where the ensemble sang "How Great is our God" and the drama team performed "Thief," a perfect sketch for this day celebrating Christ's death for not only that repentant thief, but for all of us. Thomas then shared a testimony, encouraging the congregation to listen for and to follow God's call. We then celebrated the Lord's Table with our African friends. What a blessing to remember the body of Christ with the body of Christ around the world! Following the message by Pastor Garth, 3 people prayed to trust Christ! Praise the Lord!

Following some fellowship time over tea, we headed out for lunch at a place called Carnivore--Can you guess what we ate a lot of? Yes, we had endless servings of MEAT. Not just beef, but Ostrich, Zebra, Giraffe, Crocodile, Elland (like an elk), Kudu Boers (a kind of sausage) and even some "boring stuff" like chicken and ribs. We even had pup (relax, it's not what you think :) We were quite stuffed, but, of course, had room for dessert. The kids then had a bounce in a bounce house to work off the meat coma that set on.

After that, we headed back to camp for some rest and preparation for tomorrow's ministry at Community Baptist in Leondale.

It has been a GREAT good Friday.

Thanks so much for the continual updates. It's great to know what you are doing and that thing's are going so well.
We're praying for you all continually - that God will use you in mighty ways and that you will never be the same again by what you will see and learn in your walk with the Lord through this ministry.
Love,
Mom and Dad (John and Jane

P.S. We talked to the dentist and Trevor should try to have his tooth bonded if it's at all possible. Thanks for letting him call home to let us know. (Hope Darren's head is O.K.!)

Amazing is our God! And, wonderful are those who bring the news of HIM to others. Hallelujah! The angels had a party today with three new saints in the kingdom! Thank you for your faithful preparing, going and sharing. May the Lord richly repay each of you for your kindnesses! It is so cool to be able to "see" you all on your trip..and to see the country where you are ministering. Thanks, Mr. Naz for putting the blogs together. I pray that "God may open a door for your message so that you may proclaim the mystery of Christ...that you may proclaim it clearly...Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of EVERY opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of GRACE and seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone!" Colossians 4:3-6 Know that you are thought of, loved and prayed for from this corner of the world!
